Commission a Custom Bird or Pet Portrait

A favorite backyard visitor, a bird from a trip you'll never forget, or the parrot who runs your household: I draw them all in my signature soft, fluffy colored pencil style. Commissions make wonderful one-of-a-kind gifts and keepsakes.

What you get

  • An original, hand-drawn colored pencil drawing (not a print)

  • Drawn on toned mixed-media paper

  • Sizes: 6" × 8", 9" × 12", or 12" × 16"

What I draw

  • Birds: wild birds, pet birds and parrots, a national bird for a gift, or a species from your life list

  • Pets: I occasionally take on dogs, cats and other critters. Ask me, and I'll let you know if it's a good fit.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Use the form below to tell me what you'd like drawn, what size you want, and when you need it.

  2. Send reference photos. Clear, well-lit photos work best. If you don't have one, I can help find a reference, with the photographer's permission.

  3. Reserve your spot. I'll confirm pricing and timing. A 50% deposit holds your place in my queue.

  4. I draw. When the drawing is finished, I'll send you a photo for approval.

  5. Final payment. Once you approve the drawing, the remaining 50% is due.

  6. Delivery. Your finished drawing ships to you [or is ready for pickup in Portland].

Starting prices:

  • 6" × 8": $100

  • 9" × 12": $175

  • 12" × 16": $300

Highly detailed birds and non-bird subjects may cost more. Prices don't include shipping. I currently ship within the contiguous United States.

Timing

Turnaround is usually 3–6 weeks, depending on my queue. I take a limited number of commissions at a time, so if it's for a birthday or holiday, please reach out early.
